1. About the service

PathWars is a free online game at pathwars.online. You can start playing straight away, without an account.

These terms describe how things stand between us. By playing, you accept them. If something here does not suit you, please do not use the service — that is fairer to both of us.

2. How the service works

We do our best to keep the game available and quick. We cannot promise it: the service is free and is offered as it is. There may be outages, updates and maintenance.

The game keeps changing: modes come and go, the look changes, the way points are awarded changes. Anything important, we say inside the game itself.

3. Fair play

The game assumes a real person on each side of the board. So we ask you:

• to make your own moves — no bots, scripts or assisting programs;
• to play through the site rather than around it, and not to reuse the game’s network protocol in your own software;
• not to inflate your rating: no playing yourself from several devices or accounts, no agreed results, no losing on purpose, no farming short repeated games;
• to treat your opponents with respect;
• not to disrupt the service or place undue load on it.

4. Nicknames

Every opponent sees your nickname, and it appears on the leaderboard. So it must not contain obscenity or insults, sexual or degrading language, incite hatred on national, racial or religious grounds, include hate symbols or numeric hate codes, or present you as the game’s administration.

If a nickname does not meet these requirements, we may replace it with a neutral one. You will be told the next time you open the game, and can choose a new one right away.

5. If the rules are broken

We may annul points earned in breach of the rules, reset an account’s rating, remove it from the leaderboard, or restrict access to the service.

Points and ranks are part of the game. They hold no monetary value, are neither sold nor bought, and annulling them is not compensated.

Exactly how points are awarded — what a win and a loss are worth, why a very short game and a long run of rematches against the same person earn nothing — is set out in the Rules. We may adjust those figures to keep the leaderboard honest.

6. Your account

Registering is optional. It exists so that your progress does not disappear along with your browser.

Please look after your password: whatever is done under your account is taken to have been done by you.

7. Advertising

The game is free for everyone, and advertising is what makes that possible. It is the only thing the game runs on.

By using the service, you agree to advertising being shown. We try to keep it out of your way: ad units appear in the menus only, never during a match, and the video behind the “Support PathWars” button opens only if you choose to open it.

The adverts themselves are not made by us. They come from ad networks and their clients. We do not review their content and are not responsible for it, for the sites they lead to, or for the goods and services offered there. Anything to do with an advertiser is settled with that advertiser directly.

If advertising is not acceptable to you, you are always free not to use the service.

8. Voluntary support

Supporting the project is entirely up to you. It grants no advantage in the game and is non-refundable.

9. Rights in the game

The PathWars name, design, source code and graphics belong to the rights holder. They may not be copied or used commercially without permission.

10. Age

The game is meant for players aged 13 and over. By playing, you confirm that you are at least 13. If you are under 18, please let a parent or guardian know that you play.

11. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time: Profile → Delete account. You need nobody’s permission and you do not have to ask anyone.

Deleting is final. Your nickname, points, rank, daily streak, friends list and your review of the game go with it, and your email and password stop opening the door. Exactly what is removed and what stays is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Liability

The service is free and we provide it as it is, without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for outages, for the loss of game progress, points or leaderboard position, or for indirect loss and loss of profit. Where the law does not allow liability to be limited, it is not limited.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms change along with the game. A new revision applies from the moment it is published on this page — its date is shown above. By continuing to play, you accept the changes.
